Squares tells the story of Varene Anderson, the filmmaker's grandmother, who founded the National Square Dance Convention in Riverside, California in 1952, together with her husband, Carl Anderson, and two other square dancing couples. The filmmaker explores the fascinating world of square dancing, while also learning more about her own family's connection to the national folk dance.
